LED lights can last up to 50,000 hours. This means that the constant annual
replacement costs of traditional bulbs far outweigh the initial investment and installation of a good quality LED light equivalents.
How long is 50,000 hours?
There are 8,760 hours in a year
so depending on lamp hours of operation they can last a LONG time
24 Hours a Day = 5.7 Years
10 Hours a Day, 5 Days a Week, 52 Weeks per Year = 19 Years
LED light bulbs produce no ultra-violet or infra-red radiation. This is especially useful in museums and homes where conventional lights can damage sensitive fabrics, exhibits, wallpapers etc. The added bonus is that insects such as moths and other flying beasts are attracted to UV. So if you use warm light LED lamps you can drastically reduce your night time bugs.
Most LED light bulbs are constructed from plastic and extremely robust. For industries where glass can cause huge amounts of down-time if broken glass infiltrates production, LEDs can offer a fantastic alternative while also reducing insurance costs.
This is common in food manufacturing where glass cannot be picked up with standard food x-raying equipment during quality control. This is also applicable for Schools, Hospitals or any kind of Public Sector building where a smashed light or tube containing mercury would mean cordoning an area off to perform a proper clean up
Some LED lights come as fully sealed units as opposed to lights in an “open” reflecting luminaire. This means that dust and insects cannot gather inside the unit, leading to additional maintenance costs and hygiene concerns. This advantage over traditional lighting is often utilised in hospitals, food processing factories, care homes and other health-conscious organisations.
LEDs are fully operational in Extremely Cold or Hot Temperatures.
So they are ideal for operation under cold and low outdoor temperature settings. For fluorescent lamps, low temperatures may affect operation and present a challenge, but LED illumination operates well also in cold settings, such as for outdoor winter settings, freezer rooms etc.
LEDs are extremely durable and built with sturdy components that are highly rugged and can withstand even the roughest conditions.
Because LED lights are resistant to shock, vibrations and external impacts, they make great outdoor lighting systems for rough conditions and exposure to weather, wind, rain or even external vandalism, traffic related public exposure and construction or manufacturing sites.
LEDs don’t flicker which can be a source of headaches and migraines in the office environment. They can also be dimmed resulting in a dynamic control of light, colour and distribution which can be tailored for whatever environment you are in.
LEDs can also be made to change colour which can alter peoples emotions.
Using LED strip lighting, mood illumination is already being used in airplanes, classrooms and many more locations. You expect to see a lot more LED mood illumination in our daily lives within the next few years.
LED lights brighten up immediately when powered on, which has great advantages for infrastructure projects such as traffic and signal lights.
Also, LED lights can switched off and on frequently and without affecting the LED’s lifetime or light emission. In contrast, traditional lighting may take several seconds to reach full brightness, and frequent on/off switching does drastically reduce operational life expectancy.
