Here at LampShop we had the opportunity to work with a very special charity, the Guide Dogs Association.
Naming a Puppy Scheme
We had pleasure of taking part in the “Name a Puppy Scheme and Change a Life”. Name a Puppy Scheme gave us the opportunity to give a guide dog puppy one of their very first gifts, their name. And of course, we named the puppy Edison!
Everyone at LampShop was very keen to support the campaign, the staff members found it such an easy charity to relate to as many of them were dog lovers! But they also understood that companion can be more than just a friend, a guide dog can offer a helping a hand, reassurance and a lot of love.
What made the fundraiser so special is that it turned out to be a spectacular event for us, we raised an enormous £2630
We even had the thrill of following Edison journey from an energetic pup to amazing helpful Guide Dog. The guide dog service transforms the lives of around 4,700 blind and partially sighted people every year. So we understand the importance that a Guide Dog can give to an individual, not only do they provide the companionship of friend but also providing support in times of need. Like us, they share the same values in going the extra mile.
“Having a guide dog is like someone handing you the keys to the world and saying ‘go on, go enjoy it’. You feel like you can go wherever you like because you know that you’ll be safe.”
Mark, guide dog owner to Alfie
Did you know Thomas Edison gave his kids Telegraph inspired nicknames?
As a nod to the Morse Code system, he called his two eldest children—Marion Edison and Thomas Edison, Jr.—Dot and Dash, respectively. We did consider these two names as option but it was a resounding no by the office, respectively.
We hope to do many more campaigns with the Guide Dogs Association and promote the amazing work they do. If want to learn more about the charity or any of the charitable work we do here at LampShop, please get in touch on:
